Can one scoop really hold 100+ ingredients?

Yes, physically. But whether each ingredient is properly dosed depends on the label. Here's the arithmetic, and how to check any product, including ours.

BY 4VIA04 November 2026
In short
  • Yes, 100+ ingredients fit in one scoop. Many nutrients are needed in micrograms: a day's B12 weighs less than a grain of sand.
  • The real question isn't "can it fit?" but "is each one dosed for its purpose?" That needs the full label, ingredient by ingredient.
  • Watch for "proprietary blends" that give a total weight but hide individual amounts.
  • We publish every ingredient and every dose, so you can check ours.

"A hundred ingredients in one scoop? Each one must be a pinch of dust."

It's a fair suspicion, and it deserves an answer with numbers rather than reassurance.

Start with how little some nutrients weigh

Your body needs some nutrients in astonishingly small amounts. The daily reference amount (NRV) for vitamin B12 is 2.5 micrograms: 0.0025 mg. Vitamin D's is 5 micrograms.¹ A full day's worth of several vitamins together weighs less than a single grain of rice.

So most of the vitamins, and trace minerals like selenium, iodine and chromium, take up almost no room.

Where the space actually goes

Other ingredients are heavy. Calcium, magnesium and potassium are needed in hundreds of milligrams. And they never come alone: magnesium arrives bonded to a carrier, so the compound weighs several times more than the magnesium it delivers.² That's why the honest number on a label is the elemental amount.

Some studied ingredients need grams. Creatine is usually studied at 3–5 g a day. Fibre targets are measured in grams too.

Here's an illustration of how fast a scoop fills:

Ingredient Typical studied amount
Creatine 3 g
Fibre 3 g
MSM 1.5 g
Nicotinamide riboside 0.3 g
Saffron extract 0.03 g
Total, before anything else 7.83 g

This isn't a recipe or a criticism of anyone. It shows the real constraint: a scoop has a weight budget, and every formula is a set of choices within it.

Small amounts, very different scales
Micrograms · µg
Many vitamins occupy very little space.
Milligrams · mg
Minerals and defined botanical extracts.
Grams · g
Fibre and larger-dose ingredients.
1,000 µg = 1 mg · 1,000 mg = 1 g. Ingredient count alone tells you little about dose. This is a scale guide, not a breakdown of a specific formula.

Botanicals: the dose depends on the preparation

Plant ingredients are where "a pinch" can genuinely matter. In one sleep trial, 28 mg a day of a standardised saffron extract outperformed placebo on self-rated insomnia.³ But 28 mg of an uncharacterised saffron powder isn't automatically the same thing. Plant part, extraction and marker compounds matter.

Extract ratios like "10:1" don't mean ten times the effect, either. They describe how much raw plant went in, not what comes out in a trial.

The thing to really look for: hidden doses

A "proprietary blend" usually lists a total weight, say "Superfood blend, 4,100 mg", followed by 20 ingredients with no individual amounts. You can't tell whether the first ingredient is 4,000 mg and the rest are dust.

In the UK, supplements must declare the quantity of nutrients and other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect, per daily portion.⁴ A blend name isn't an exemption.

How to check any product in two minutes

  1. Find the daily portion: one scoop, two capsules?
  2. Look for an amount for every active ingredient, not just a blend total.
  3. For minerals, check whether it's the elemental amount.
  4. Work out %NRV yourself: amount ÷ NRV × 100. Magnesium 100 mg ÷ 375 mg = 27%.
  5. For botanicals, look for the extract and standardisation, not just the plant name.

How we approach it

We list every ingredient in ISN™ and Rest Phase™ with its amount, on the Ingredients page and the label. The morning scoop weighs 15 g. Where a mineral is heavy, we split it between morning and night: magnesium (65 mg morning, 85 mg night), zinc (15 mg and 2 mg) and copper (1 mg and 150 µg). Where an ingredient needs grams to match research, we either include a meaningful amount or leave it out.

And here's the honest part: fitting 100+ ingredients proves nothing about results. A count is a description, not evidence. That's why we don't compete on the number.
